Honey So Sweet

Honey is one of my favorite things. It adds a rich, sunniness to things that straight up sugar just doesn't. Salad dressing, tea, marinades, phyllo- all things made better with the sticky, sweet stuff.

At the moment I have four different kinds of honey on my baking shelf: clover (in the bear bottle), wild thistle, lavender and now gorgeous Greek gold. Jaimeson was visiting family in Kefalonia last week and brought this particular goodness back with him, likely with my morning yogurt in mind.
2% Fage with berries and honey passes for breakfast or dessert in my house but in Argostoli, it would be tough to pass full fat, legit yogurt (almost twice the fat of ice cream) off as a balanced meal. Much as though I might persist.

In the meantime, I can't bring myself to open it because the packaging is so gorgeous. And I'm out of fruit in yogurt anyway which will be rectified immediately after work tonight. And in the meantime, my new honey still doesn't have anything on the sweetness of my old Honey(Cat)...even if she appears to prefer Jaimeson these days!

I've posted the photo below on both Twitter and Tumblr but I'm doing it again because it involves Sunday afternoon naps and my two favorite sources of warmth and affection.

fage and honey is one of my favorite things in the world.

it reminds me of my yiayia making homemade yogurt when i was a child. another awesome yogurt addition?

put it over some orzo with very light tomato and olive oil, just enough to cover the pasta. trust me it's good.

I just recently started loving honey and question how I ever lived without it.

I love honey and have always heard you should consume honey produced locally as often as possible, as it helps combat allergens in your environment. Interesting, huh? That said, I'd love to try Greek honey. Everything else from Greece tastes divine...why wouldn't their honey taste amazing too?

Alexa- you kind've blew my mind with that. Yogurt as a cream replacement for pasta??? Just as rich, probably healthier. ZOMG. And hello, all things Greek are my favorite as you well know!

Nic- Food epiphanies are the best epiphanies as far as I'm concerned.

Sandie- I love your site. There, I said it, I had my fan moment. Someday I will open my own B&B and send you recipes. And indeed, everything from Greece DOES taste divine!!
